Creator: Jon Atherton, Wilmington, Deleware
Date funded: 1/2/2014
# backers: 1939
Amount: $141,173
A working prototype was claimed to exist when the project was launched on KS; almost a year later and 7 months behind schedule, no working prototype has yet been demonstrated. Worse than poor communication from the project creator, who when he does respond to forum comments goes out of his way to be arrogant and insulting. He does however find the time to spam backers with promotions for further preorders of his nonexistent products.
lusan author: I ordered the Yufu Stylus on July 2014, so far after many delays the Yufu Stylus is MIA. I sent a few emails to the Hex3 company inquiring about the status of the Yufu delivery. They felt on deaf ears and did not respond, but in meantime they keep sending me emails selling the Yufu Stylus at 40% discount. The emails are dated March 04, March 17, and the last email was yesterday March 25, 2015. The address below the email soliciting the sale is as follows:
HEX3
Suite 808
1220 N. Market Street
Wilmington, DE 19801
Would you please advise me what to do? Initiate a class action lawsuit?
It will be greatly appreciated.
Luis
PS: They started an account collecting sales from PayPal.

The same incident occurred to me. I’ve ordered and paid for their top range YuFu Stylus Pro during their 40% discount promotion back in June 2014 (I think this is discount is lasted for quite a while even though it said for a limited time). I got an immediate notification from their ordering system that tracking number will be given once ordered ships. I’ve waited for 3 months without any notification but their automated email keeps sending me promotions for YuFu or their GPS tag from time to time. I sent my email to their website’s customer service form (there’s no other contact method besides that) periodically every 3 months but none of the email was replied by any customer service agents. It’s now March 2015 and I’ve given up and considered this YuFu product to be a scam. I don’t ever believe there’s an actual product or unit to begin with. I think the founder just keep sending out these promotions material to unsuspected victims and gets them to pay for something that doesn’t exist. And since there’s no proper contact method, all emails are falls on deaf ears. Please beware of HEX3.co and their scam. It’s a lesson for me. And this is my first time buying from a kickstarter project based company.

@michal , July 1, 2016

So apparently this guy is a multi-millionaire who had a porn empire at some time. He goes through $3200 a day according to an article. That being the case I am sure he can give us back our measly $99. Small claims court it is.

Same here. Purchased a yufu pro for 99 bucks at the beginning of may 2014. I have not received as much as one response to all my emails asking what’s going on. John Atherton is a complete fraud and is not worth being trusted. Man I wish I was a great hacker… but I’m not..

Darn. Wish I had done a little more research before I bought into this scam
I shelled out $ for the YuFu Pro in January; I went on the site a couple times and saw there were delays, so I I didn’t worry too much. Then, well honestly its been so long I forgot about it. Today I get an email from HEX3 offering me 40% off another YuFu…what about the one I never got? I’ve emailed but I’m not hopeful. Don’t think I will do anything like this again unless I know the person. Sucks. I’m not a rich person, this hurts.

I have also been scammed by this company, pre-ordered the Yufu Stylus at 40% discount since beginning of July 2014. Asides from the first email that the order was received and shipping is delayed post on their website a month later, I’ve never receive any other communication from them, EVER!!!
We should band together and file a suite with Better Business or some government organization against internet scam.
Now the company HEX3 don’t even bother putting up the fake, shipping delay on their support page anymore.
When you go to the link http://hex3.co/pages/support, it simply will go to no where error 404 or you will get their sales page and message that said
Please select a NEW product from the menu above. The one you are looking for has sold out.
I most horrible scam ever…
If anyone have suggestions about how we can take their site down or put a warning so that others don’t fall for the same scam since they are still selling their Bogus Yufu at pre-order to everyone that fell for the scam.

I purchased a yufu for 99$ in the beginning of may 2014. I have since then not heard a single thing from them. I started emailing them, calling them, sending letters to their post adress, in the beginning of August, asking what was going on. I have litterally contacted them on average 4 times a month since August without one single reply.
Have I been scammed? I think so.. Does anyone have the means to sue? What if everyone that has been scammed would gather resources and file a lawsuit? I don’t know how it works but if someone knows, please raise your voice. I’m sure we are a few hundred people at least who would like our money back.

By now you get the tone of what’s happening here. Who is this sonofabitch?
I purchased in Aug2014 still nothing no update no email response no real address which to go visit and find out what’s happening.
Does anyone know where he lives?
@PJS55 , March 17, 2015
I purchased yufu pro.
NOT as a backer sometime in July.
I was sent an email in August saying a release was due in October and it ‘would be worth the wait’
So I waited.
It is now December.
There has been zero updates, zero response regarding my purchase.
I don’t know how this bullshit is allowed to go on,
but my patience has been spent.
If this jackass would at least give updates, then I would have NO PROBLEM waiting.
But he can’t even be bothered to give updates.
So
I can’t be bothered to spend my money on a non-existent product.
Thanks for wasting my fucking time.
seriously you are an idiot and have zero business sense.
This is now a guaranteed failure and you have lost all good will from customers and press.
Way to go.
now process my fucking refund.

Jon is also ignoring those of us who have placed orders on their website. I ordered a stylus there back when the site claimed shipping world begin in June. Then the site changed to July and then…well you know how this goes.
I emailed asking for a refund in September. They said sure but please give them till October to make good on delivering this stylus.
Still waiting. All emails since then have been ignored. Really need to find out where this scam is registered and mount an effort to get them shut down for good.

it should be said that Procreate has nothing to do with HEX3- people are just using Procreate’s blog to complain about HEX3. Wonder why HEX3 customers are choosing an unbiased, un-monitored forum to voice their frustration….?

Here’s comments from the Procreate site- another HEX3 failure:

Looks like he deleted the thread and is now screening comments on his tilt project- ACLOCK. I will search for an archived version of the site and post the links here.

some really bad info on his ACLOCK Tilt site. links that pretty much show his character and relationship to the porn world.

I purchased the Jaja stylus from EBay and it was defective and I contacted Hex3 regarding the situation as it was sill within its manufacturing guarantee as the stylus was less than 1 year old only and they proceeded to inform me that they would not assist myself. They knew where I had purchased my stylus before I had informed them which leads me to believe they were the ones that sold myself the defective stylus through eBay. I want nothing else to do with the farce of a company and legal action needs to be taken because legally and ethically they can not be allowed to carry on treating customers and investors in this manner. Jon Atherton has asked for finding on 7 Kickstarter projects and they have all had sever problems, technical issues, customer service issues, Kickstarter I thought was to help create a product and in turn to help people build a successful business not for companies that are already established to ask for everyone else to risk their hard earned money except Jon Atherton and ask for funding for project after project, he already has an established business. He his breaking numerous Kickstarter Terms & Conditions by spamming his backers asking for funding on new projects before fulfilling his responsibilities with existing projects, he is not keeping his backers informed, he is rude and impolite to say the least. Then there is the issue with customers who have purchased this so called “Next Generation Stylus” through their website under false pretences that it was already manufactured and ready to be shipped. He was polite and courteous enough when asking for funding and had enough time to spare then, he can not spare 5 minutes a week to update his backers and customers who made all and I mean all his projects and products possible. What makes matters worse is this is not a single lobe issue with Hex3 and Jon Atherton his other projects are going through the exact same ordeal. I would advise anyone who is having issues to contact The Sales Of Goods Act, Trading Standards, and whatever other course of action you can think of as this is not legal, Kickstarter creators have guidelines and protocols they have to adhere to and when they to do so without sufficient evidence and reasons they have to refund their backers and prove how and where all finances were spent. I would advise that everyone who has problems with this company get in contact and work together as there is power in numbers. Thank for taking the time to read this.
