It’s about time this project gets reported. The original estimate for delivery was August 2013. The newest update dropped conveniently on Thanksgiving estimates delivery in June 2015. I backed this and nuplug around the same time. They often drop updates the same day, which seems suspicious. The updates are filled with excuses, but are always polite. I’m shocked by the people that believe they will ever get anything. They are gullible and “enjoying the ride.”
*Update 4/17/2015 says they are shipping soon, will they really?

And still no update in months from Brandon or anyone else.

I am Brandon Hyde the project leader for Cole-Bar and I would like to respond to this report. Yes, we are under a major delay for the Cole-Bar due to issues with our two previous manufacturers. We were initially with a mfg.in China who we believed to be reputable. They were using inferior materials and improper heat treating. We then moved to a mfg. in Taiwan with a green-light set for late last year. The main supplier over the ratcheting component of our tool dropped out and we were back to square one.
We are now with a new mfg. team and we are on target for a 2nd or 3rd qtr delivery for 2015.
We could have indeed delivered a product by the original delivery date, but the product would have been inferior. Major components of the tool would have failed and the product would have been considered junk. We made a commitment to deliver a quality produced tool and that is what we intend to do.
This person that reported this is a commenter on Kickstarter that doesn’t understand what it means to be a backer. They continually post negative comments and snide remarks and refuse to lend positive support and feedback.
We have informed all of the backers that they will be upgraded to a better tool at no extra charge because of all the delays. I have repeatedly posted my contact information on Kickstarter for anyone who has a concern to contact me instead of posting false information. I have even challenged individual backers (such as Shaner8) who post negative and false information to contact me personally. I have yet to receive a phone call. I will post my contact info here for anyone who has ANY concern about Cole-Bar. We have nothing to hide and can back up anything that we have posted on Kickstarter. Anyone is welcome at anytime to come and visit us to see first hand our progress.
As far as Nu-Plug is concerned, we backed them to show support for fellow KS creators. We are not affiliated with them in any way other than being a backer. We did not know nor have we even met anyone on their team before KS. Any updates posted on the same day are pure coincedence. We have posted many more updates than they have with plenty of updates on different dates. Out of the 48 updates (as of today) that we have posted, maybe one or two fell on the same day. Nuplug (like many other creators and mfg.) have faced the same kind of mfg. problems we have and we wish them all the best.
Most Kickstarter backers understand the process and are willing to support no matter what the obstacles or challenges. They are a great group of people to work with. However, there are a few that have nothing better to do than to overly criticize every aspect of this process rather than lend support.
I understand that there are indeed scams on KS and it is a shame that there are people that would intentionally take advantage of people. We are not that way and that is not our heart. In fact, I have posted on KS that if this project were to fail, I would spend the rest of my life and my hard earned money paying back each and every person that backs us. I stand by that comment.
Cole-Bar is not a scam. A true KS scam is one that has no intentions of ever producing anything and does not update or provide contact information to its backers. A delayed project is not a scam! We continually update our backers and answer emails. My phone number and email are open to anyone who wants information.
Sincerely,
Brandon
