AKA The Official Otakon Super Beat Em’ Up Video Game!
This project was successfully funded on Sep 23, 2012.
Last official comms were on the 7th Aug 2013.
Not a single backer has received a response from anyone involved in the project.
No one has received awards.
The site for the game has also vanished and no updates on their Facebook or Twitter accounts.
I tried reaching out to Fred Gallagher from Megatokyo as he was drawing Ping for the game. He responded initially but didn’t get back to me after that, I assume he didn’t manage to get any response from his contacts on this project.
I have messaged both Dave Lister and a mutual friend of ours on Facebook about the game, hopefully I’ll at least hear back from one of them. I don’t want to have thrown away $70.
@jeneko Ooft, that is tough, I see what you mean.
@theweirdone I mostly know the music and art guys, and they all aren’t directly part of Nasu. So the last time I asked someone, he got incredibly uncomfortable and told me I’d have to find Dave for any info, cause he had finished his part ages ago.
@jeneko Can you not just say “Heeeey… how’s that game coming along”?
I put in $100 to this
The best/worst part is that I know most of the folks that were supposed to be doing work on this game, and I’ve no idea how to bring up the “heeey you fucked me out of money”
I backed this, still wondering what’s going on. I also sent a message to Fred from MT on fb. I haven’t heard back from him, but I felt bad asking him in the first place. I mean it’s not his project and he’s busy enough as is. But the only reason I backed this project was because Ping from MT was in it….Now I’m wishing I hadn’t. :/
I only submitted something like $35.00, but I do feel a little cheated that something I was really hoping to see finished and play suddenly turn into a scam. I’ve been returning to the Kickstarter page as that is pretty much the only place I’ve seen any updates, which turn out to only be in the comments section from others that also feel cheated by this.
I backed this all the way to Assist Striker and was never contacted on what I wanted my character to look like or what i wanted my attack to be. The party was supposed to be the release party was nothing but playing the demo that was shown when the Kickstarter first started a year prior and empty promises he would have it finished in 6 more months. One month later the forum and website go down and the kickstarter page and Facebook page go silent. I have contacted them several times with no reply.

I was only at the $15 tier.. but since its so long after the backing of the project I can’t open up a claim with Amazon. Kickstarter has also failed in responding to my inquires. I tweeted Dave Lister today.. but seeing the attorney general starting to sue failed projects makes me excited. I’m hoping for the best, the best being a lawsuit against this piece of s***. 😀

This project has been a big let down from some of the comments. Otakon has apparently canceled their contract with those creating the game and no new news from anyone with the project in awhile.
