Mr. Tom Baker obviously did not have the skills needed to actually manufacture and deliver the item he promised. After seeing this project on kickscammed, I realized that, with my skill set, I could easily produce not only the same product, but something much better. I’ve just started a new AirTracks Carbon project on kickstarter.
Kickstarter is really onto something with how they set themselves up to get some great profit off of scammers that defraud people via “crowdfunding” projects.
Have y’all seen that Kickstarter has claimed they are a “B Corp”? (https://www.kickstarter.com/blog/not-just-another-company).
In other words, they say they believe “through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.” (https://www.bcorporation.net/what-are-b-corps/the-b-corp-declaration) I’m sure there are thousands of gypped project backers who would argue otherwise.
Crazy, right?! Tom Baker has blatantly lied now to the NY Attorney General (see: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/baker/airtracks-inflatable-all-terrain-camera-slider/comments?cursor=8601580#comment-8601579), and his latest pursuit is to start back up his scam camera strap company, “HighKey Camera”, which unsurprisingly, has dozens of documented complaints from customers who ordered and didn’t receive anything.
This is really interesting…Seems like he just calmly said “oops” and they said “sounds good!”
Response from Tom Baker (via the NY state AG):

So I successfully reported Tom to the New York State Attorney General and got the below letter back. Looks like they will be reaching out to him directly to investigate. With any luck he’ll face jailtime.
