AquaGenie: The World’s Smartest Water Bottle
Take a look at this project:
The dev team claims that it’s an innovative “smart bottle” which interacts with the smartphone: useful for keeping track of the amount of water drunk during the day.
The dev team has constantly delayed the completion of the project: the cause of these delays was mainly “the factories that failed to meet their quality standards for the manufacturing of the item”.
Me and other backers know far too well that these kind of accidents are quite common, but what is making us think it’s a scam is the total lack of communcation from the dev team.
The dev team updated last time in June 2018. Since then, no communication at all from them. Not only regarding updates, but they are ignoring the comments of the backers as well. In the comments section, there are literally months and months of comments asking for updates that have been ignored. The dev team intervened just one time, 4 months ago, to remove a backer because “the person was posting invented things” (the comment of the deleted backer has unfortunately been deleted as well). And they did so while still ignoring all the info requests.
The project has been mass-reported by backers, but Kickstarter didn’t do anything. A lot of backers (me as well) even sent an email to the Kickstarter team explaining that only they have the authority to force a response from the dev team, but the KS team failed to deliver, answering each of us with standard and/or vague emails. The dev team doesn’t have any other means of contacting them.
We all know that some projects may fail, but the total lack of communication is making this project look like a total scam.
It’s worth checking on this one, because they’re scamming on Indiegogo, too!
